What a year it’s been! As 2021 draws to a close the challenges of COVID-19 and supply chain issues are still affecting everyone, but there is also plenty to celebrate. So, let’s take a look back at some of the achievements and advances which have helped to make our industry safer and more sustainable in 2021:
We were excited to launch the practical guide for facility construction inspection , which we produced jointly with the INGAA Foundation. This comprehensive program helps to ensure consistently high standards in pipeline facility construction by providing real-world guidance to confirm facility inspectors are trained, qualified and competent.
This year the CEPA Foundation’s Technology Showcase, Quality Summit and Safety Roundtables were held as virtual events, but that didn’t dampen the enthusiasm. These events provided an excellent opportunity for our members to gather and share information on new technologies, innovations and best practices. Among the presentations was a hot button topic being talked about both in the industry and in the public domain following the ransomware attack on the Colonial pipeline in the U.S.; cybersecurity.
Our members have continued to place the highest priority on innovation, safety and sustainability. Some of the exciting technologies that we’ve featured on the blog this year include the use of drones for detecting methane emissions and AI for improving the safety of large industrial vehicles.
And last, but not least…
The new website and blog, both launched this year, have been a great way for us to share the commitment of our industry to investing in the clean technologies required to help us deliver a low carbon energy future. We look forward to sharing more of the innovations that are making our operations safer and more sustainable.
Well, we keep rolling and although this is the final blog of 2021, it just remains to wish you and your loved ones a happy holidays and all the best for a healthy, happy 2022.
