ECC Advocates for Red Tape Reduction

Recommendations seek to improve investment climate for Canada’s pipeline industry.

On February 26, ECC submitted comments to the Government of Canada’s red tape review.

ECC welcomes the government’s review and supports key Government of Canada aspirations such as moving from delay to delivery, ensuring one project/one review, and realizing Canada’s potential as a clean and conventional energy superpower. To this end, the Canada Energy Regulator (CER) should be elevated to the role of the single, life-cycle regulator for federally-regulated pipelines in Canada. It’s also true that much of the CER’s legislation needs to change to provide predictability and remove delays in its processes.

ECC will continue to advocate for these changes in its efforts to improve the investment climate for pipeline development in Canada.
